Ready, Set, Robot!
Our recent Ready Set Robot no-school day camp was a fantastic day of hands-on learning and fun! The students kicked off the morning with a peanut butter and jelly activity, which was a big hit. They had to write out every step of the sandwich making process and see if a “robot” (their educator!) could follow the steps. A few students even made the “robot” do some celebration dances!
Afterward, the campers dove into robotics using micro:bit and Cutebots. After some successful coding, and a break for lunch, everyone got back into the coding mindset with a quick game of Simon Says.
After lunch, they explored ultrasonic sensors. The kids enjoyed programming their Cutebots to respond to sensor inputs, giving them a real taste of innovation and engineering.
The campers all eagerly applied themselves to apply coding knowledge at the end of the day. Camper Rowan (pictured right) decided to code two robots and animate them talking to each other!
Another camper used what we learned and went on to teach herself how to use radio waves between robots!
The camp provided a perfect blend of creativity, teamwork, and technical learning, leaving the students inspired and eager for more STEAM challenges. At the end of the day, everyone was awarded a certificate and a challenge code for being a part of Ready, Set, Robot!
