All Charged Up!
Our recent All Charged Up no-school day camp was electric with energy, curiosity, and creativity! Campers spent the day exploring the science of circuits through hands-on experiments, teamwork, and a little friendly competition.
We kicked off the morning by getting kids thinking about energy flow - what powers our world and how we can harness it safely. Then it was time to dive into building! Using batteries, bulbs, and switches, campers experimented with how electricity travels, lighting up their first simple circuits and testing what materials conduct or block current.
After a lunch break and some recharging time outside, we jumped into our first project of the day: DIY flashlights! Campers used their new knowledge of circuits to design and assemble their own working flashlights. From troubleshooting loose connections to decorating their final designs, they powered through every challenge with focus and creativity.
After learning the difference between parallel and series circuits the campers got a chance to design and create their very own circuits to take home. They built these with special, conductive copper tape, LEDs, and batteries!
All Charged Up was a bright day, combining science, problem-solving, and play in equal measure. Every camper left with new skills, a flashlight, and a work of electric art. We don’t think we can say it any better than one of our campers today; “Wow! This is actually really cool!”
